WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - (February 17, 2025) - The Fayetteville State University women and the Claflin University men were once again crowned champions at the 2025 CIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the JDL Fast Track on Monday afternoon. Both teams repeat as conference champions.
Claflin University repeats in the men's indoor track & field championship with 138.5 points. Virginia Union University finished in second place with 114 points and Virginia State University captured third with 98 points.
The Broncos' fifth title run, in its sixth season as a university-sponsored track and field program, tallied 150 points to claim the title. Winston-Salem State University finished as the runner-up with 130 points and Claflin University placed third (90 points).
Janya Moore earned the Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Year and won the women’s 200m with a time of 24.87 as well as placing second in the 400m 56.63. Domanique Knowles won the High Jump with season best of 1.58m.
Claflin won multiple events to claim the conference crown. The Panthers' Jonathan Flemister was named Track Athlete of the Year and won the 60-meter dash (6.84 seconds) as well as placing second in the 200m. Jaevon Riley claimed 10 points for the Panthers in the men’s 400m with a time of 48.70.
Inez Turner of Fayetteville State was chosen as the CIAA Women's Coach of the Year and Melvin Watts of Claflin was named CIAA Men's Coach of the Year.
