CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The 2024 CIAA women's volleyball championship is just four days away, and the eight teams that are set to compete have been finalized after an exciting last day of the regular season. The northern and southern divisions will each send their top-four finishers to the postseason.
The northern division is led by top-seeded Virginia State, who boasted an impressive 9-1 division record, complementing that with a 13-3 overall conference record. Coming in two games behind them is Bluefield State, who managed seven division wins and a 12-4 conference record.
Rounding out the top four in the northern division are Elizabeth City State who also posted seven wins but came in third due to the head-to-head, while Bowie State came in fourth at 4-6.
The southern division has been dominated by Shaw for quite some time and that trend continued in 2024, as the Bears swept the division yet again, going a perfect 10-0 to claim the top spot. Fayetteville State were a force to be reckoned with as well, as their 8-2 record put them in second behind Shaw.
Winston-Salem State comes in at third in the southern division with a record of 6-4, while Livingstone sneaks in the fourth and final spot at 3-7.
The championship will commence on Tuesday, November 19th with the four quarterfinal matches taking place at the higher seeds, and all occurring at 6:00 P.M. The semifinals round will be four days later on Friday, November 23rd, with the championship final one day later on Saturday, November 24th.
