WEEK FOURTEEN CIAA BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 

Charlotte, NC (February 17, 2026) – Week Fourteen of CIAA Basketball featured elite guard play, dominant interior performances, and efficient scoring across the conference as teams continued positioning themselves during the final stretch of regular season competition. Veteran leaders delivered high level production while freshmen continued to emerge as impactful contributors. The CIAA recognizes six student athletes for their outstanding play during the week of February 8 through February 14. 

WOMEN’S WEEKLY RESULTS SUMMARY (Feb. 8–Feb. 14) 

CIAA women’s programs showcased balanced offensive production, defensive intensity, and strong leadership from experienced guards. Fayetteville State’s backcourt-controlled tempo and execution; Livingstone asserted its interior presence on the glass, and Winston-Salem State continued to receive strong contributions from its freshman class. 

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HONOREES 

Player of the Week 
Talia Trotter, Fayetteville State 

Talia Trotter delivered another outstanding all-around week for Fayetteville State, leading the Broncos across three conference victories with elite production on both ends of the floor. The senior guard totaled 44 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, seven steals, and one block while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from three-point range. 

Trotter opened the week with 10 points, four rebounds, and five assists against Shaw before recording her top scoring performance with 18 points and six rebounds in a win over Livingstone. She closed the stretch with a complete performance against Johnson C. Smith, finishing with 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, five steals, and one block, impacting the game in every phase.

  • vs Shaw (2/9/26) – W 73–37: 10 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal 

  • vs Livingstone (2/12/26) – W 81–55: 18 points, six rebounds, four assists 

  • vs Johnson C. Smith (2/14/26) – W 73–61: 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, five steals, one block 

Defensive Player of the Week 
Breasia Coit, Livingstone 

Breasia Coit anchored Livingstone’s defense with a dominant three game stretch, controlling the glass and impacting every possession with her physical interior presence. Across the week, Coit totaled 43 rebounds, five steals, and one block, consistently limiting second chance opportunities and disrupting offensive rhythm. 

Coit opened the week with nine points and seven rebounds against Winston-Salem State, followed by one of the strongest rebounding performances of the season against Fayetteville State with 19 rebounds and three steals. She closed the week with another standout effort against Claflin, finishing with 13 points, 17 rebounds, one steal, and one block, continuing to set the tone defensively.

  • at Fayetteville State (2/12/26) – 17 points, 19 rebounds, three steals

Rookie of the Week 
Breonna Roaf, Winston-Salem State 

Breonna Roaf delivered an efficient and impactful week for Winston-Salem State, totaling 32 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and four steals across three victories while shooting 11 of 21 from the field, 4 of 7 from three point range, and a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line. 

Her standout performance came against Livingstone, where she scored a season high 26 points on 9 of 11 shooting while adding four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. She followed with steady all around contributions against Claflin and Shaw, continuing to impact the game beyond scoring.

  • vs Claflin (2/12/26) – W 55–40: four points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals

MEN’S WEEKLY RESULTS SUMMARY (Feb. 8–Feb. 14) 

CIAA men’s programs were fueled by explosive perimeter scoring, dominant interior defense, and strong rebounding performances as teams continued to build momentum entering the final stretch of conference play. Fayetteville State’s veteran core delivered across multiple categories while Elizabeth City State received strong interior production from its freshman frontcourt. 

MEN’S BASKETBALL HONOREES 

Player of the Week 
Ezekiel Cannedy, Fayetteville State 

Ezekiel Cannedy delivered an elite offensive week for Fayetteville State, leading the Broncos with explosive scoring and perimeter efficiency across three conference victories. The senior guard totaled 67 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, and three steals while shooting 46.3 percent from the field, 47.8 percent from three point range, and 81.8 percent from the free throw line. 

Cannedy recorded two 23 point performances and knocked down three or more three pointers in all three games, anchoring the Broncos’ perimeter attack. He opened with 23 points against Shaw, followed with 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists against Livingstone, then closed with another 23 point performance against Johnson C. Smith, converting 10 of 12 free throws.

  • vs Livingstone (2/12/26) – W 96–92: 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals

Defensive Player of the Week 
Romeo Aquino, Fayetteville State 

Romeo Aquino anchored Fayetteville State’s defense with a dominant three game stretch, finishing with 21 rebounds, six blocks, four steals, and 17 defensive rebounds while consistently protecting the rim and controlling the glass. 

Aquino opened the week with five rebounds and two blocks against Shaw, followed by eight rebounds and two steals against Livingstone. He closed with his strongest outing against Johnson C. Smith, recording 20 points, eight rebounds, and a season high four blocks, anchoring the defense throughout.

Rookie of the Week 
Donovan Flamer, Elizabeth City State 

Donovan Flamer delivered an efficient and impactful week for Elizabeth City State, totaling 37 points and 17 rebounds across two contests while shooting an outstanding 15 of 22 from the field and 7 of 8 from the free throw line. 

Flamer's standout performance came at Bowie State, where he scored 30 points on 14 of 16 shooting while pulling down 12 rebounds, dominating the paint throughout. He followed with seven points and five rebounds at Virginia State, continuing to contribute defensively and on the boards.

  • at Virginia State (2/14/26) – L 81–69: seven points, five rebounds
