CIAA SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

NAME: Aniyah Jackson
INSTITUTION: Claflin University
CLASS: Junior
HOMETOWN: West End, N.C.
Aniyah had a great week for the Lady Panthers. For the week, she recorded eight hits in 14 at-bats to lead the Lady Panthers to a 4-0 record with all CIAA wins. She totaled two doubles and two triples. She also had nine runs scored along with six runs batted in (RBI).

NAME: Makayla Vinson
INSTITUTION: Winston-Salem State University
CLASS: Freshman
HOMETOWN: Middlesex, N.C.
Makayla Vinson, Utility, Freshman, Middlesex, North Carolina. On the defensive side this week against Fayetteville State, Vinson recorded 11 catches, six put-outs and three assists. Her best performance came on March 28th in game one of a doubleheader, she recorded a season-high nine catches, season-high five put-outs and two assists. Makayla helped the Rams sweep the Broncos 3-2 then 4-3.
Offensively, Vinson batting .339 this week and went 1-for-7 from the plate with an RBI white not striking out . Makayla got the Rams on the board 1-0, in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Fayetteville State.

NAME: Lindsey George
INSTITUTION: Bowie State University
CLASS: Senior
HOMETOWN: Fayettevile, GA.
George was a dominant presence on the mound for the Bulldogs, posting a 3-1 record over four games. She racked up 18 strikeouts, showcasing her ability to control the game and keep hitters off balance.
NAME: Courtney Ward
INSTITUTION: Elizabeth City State University
CLASS: Freshman
HOMETOWN: Portsmouth, VA.
Courtney Ward sparked the offense with four hits including her first career grand slam that allowed the Lady Vikings to defeat Bluefield State. Ward posted a .444 average with a home run, with four RBI, and three runs scored, while posting nine putouts and two assists.
