2024 CIAA Golf Championship Set to Tee Off Monday in Southern Pines, NC

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) will host the 2024 Golf Championship on Monday, April 15 – Tuesday, April 16. Eight (8) CIAA men’s golf teams will compete for the 2024 conference title at Longleaf Golf & Family Club in Southern Pines, NC. The event is free and open to the public.

 The CIAA Golf Championship opening ceremony is tentatively scheduled for 8:45 a.m. on Monday. Teams will tee off for Round One at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday will feature the final round with the championship awards ceremony being held at the conclusion of competition.

Eight universities will compete for the 2024 title: Bluefield State University, Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, Johnson C. Smith University, Livingstone College, Virginia State University, Virginia Union University, and Winston-Salem State University. Seeding for the championship, set to begin Sunday, will be determined based on team performances in the Northern and Southern division tournaments earlier this season.

Notable players to keep an eye on include Brandon Jones from Fayetteville State, who recorded the lowest stroke total of 214 in the CIAA Southern Division tournament. David Chavez of Virginia State is also a contender, he achieved the lowest stroke total of 220 in the CIAA Northern Division tournament. With Fayetteville State eyeing a repeat as conference champions, Virginia Union University and Livingstone College emerge as ambitious challengers, having consistently placed in the top three in both divisional tournaments this season. Anticipation builds for an exhilarating championship showdown on the greens.
