Alpha Balde, Virginia Union

Alpha Balde secured 1st place overall in both the 200m dash, with a personal best time of 21.74, and He also came in 1st in  the 100m dash, with a personal best of 10.98 at the Fred Hardy Invitational.

Markus White, Virginia State
(Fr. - Lynchburg, VA) 

Markus finished 2nd in the Long Jump with a new Virginia State University school record of 7.56m (24ft 09) . That is also a NCAA provisional qualifying mark and personal best.  He is currently ranked #4 in Div II and #1 in the CIAA.

FOOD LION WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Rose Muturi, Virginia State
(Fr. - Nyahururu, Kenya)

Rose finished first in the 5000m open section with a new Virginia State University school record of 17:56.96 beating the record by over 2min. She is currently ranked #1 in the CIAA.

FOOD LION WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

M'Smyra Seward, Fayetteville State
(Sr. - Youngsville, N.C.)

M'Smrya continues to prove her athletic prowess in the long jump category. She won the 1st place medal in the 7th Annual Adidas Trojan Challenge with a distance of 5.78m. She is the conference leader for the long jump.
