FOOD LION OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

#11 Maison Burton, Lincoln (Pa.)
(Fr., Ut.- Frederick, MD)

Burton had the best two-game stint of her brief tenure, hitting .800 (4-of-5) as she connected on her first collegiate round-tripper as well as crushing a pair of doubles, crossing the plate thrice and also reaching first courtesy of a hit-by-pitch.

FOOD LION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

#21 Akirra Pullen, Bowie State
(Sr., P- Baltimore, MD)

Senior Akirra Pullen (8-4) started in the circle and picked up the win for Bowie State (24-9). The right-hander went 4.1 innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on eight hits, allowing no walks and striking out one. Pullen is tied with her teammates Karen Fritges and Lindsey George with eight wins apiece for the most wins in the circle this season, 34 strikeouts on the year (6th in the CIAA) and an ERA of 3.11 (8th CIAA).

FOOD LION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

#16 Angelica Locklear, Fayetteville State
(Fr., 1B - Pembroke, NC)

Fayetteville State’s Angelica Locklear, a freshman from Pembroke, NC, was named the CIAA Softball Week #6 Defensive Player of the Week. The first baseman collected a career-high 13 putouts in the Bronco’s 9-8 victory over Johnson C. Smith. Fayetteville State had a total of 21 putouts and 17 assists.

FOOD LION ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

#12 Alaysia Ross, Bowie State
(Fr., P/2B - Victorville, CA)

Freshman Alaysia Ross pitched well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out two against Salem in the Bulldogs win against Salem, 10-2.
