INDIANAPOLIS - The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recently announced the appointment of Claflin University president and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) board member Dr. Dwaun Warmack to the NCAA Division II Presidents Council. Warmack will be the representative for Region 2 on the council and will begin his term following the 2022 NCAA Convention.
Named president at Claflin University in 2019, Warmack was among the four new members elected to fill vacancies. In addition to his appointment, Frank Wu, president at Queens (New York); Richard Pappas, president at Davenport; and Roslyn Artis, president at Benedict, were also elected.
The Presidents Council is Division II’s highest governance office. Its members are charged with setting the strategic direction for the division in all areas, including the division’s financial affairs and championships administration. The Presidents Council is also the primary sponsor of legislative proposals at the NCAA Convention, and the chair of the Council moderates the Division II Business Session at the annual Convention.
