Charlotte, N.C. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced the promotions and additions of four staff members.
Darrell Boswell, has been promoted to
Director of Championships & Events,
Christopher Williams, a new hire, will serve as the
Director of Sports Media & Creative Content,
Tyler Johnson, has joined the staff full-time as Coordinator for Governance and Compliance, and
Mason Moses, will serve as the conference's fulltime Graduate Assistant.
Boswell has been a part of the CIAA staff for nearly a year and a half, having joined back in April of 2023. He's helped streamline the conference's championship efforts and has helped contribute to a bevy of successfully run championships in his time. Boswell is a 2018 sports management graduate of member institution Livingstone College. In his time with the Blue Bears, he served as a student trainer as well as a manager for the school's football and men's basketball programs.

With a keen eye for detail and a knack for strategic planning, Darrell has not only met but exceeded our expectations in their previous role. Williams comes to the CIAA from member institution Livingstone College, where he served as the Assistant AD for Media Relations and Game Operations since October 2023. Prior to that, Williams spent time at Queens University of Charlotte and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). He was an assistant director of communications while at Queens and a sports information assistant with the NJCAA.
“I'm very excited to have Christopher join the Communications Team," said Associate Commissioner for Strategic Communications & External Partnerships, Anna Butzlaff. "His background in collegiate athletics paired with his passion for storytelling will help us better engage current & prospective student-athletes, key stakeholders as well as external partners. Christopher's experience will be instrumental in amplifying the CIAA brand and expanding our impact.
Johnson is entering his first year as a full-time member of the CIAA staff. He's no stranger to the conference, as he was hired as a graduate assistant back in August of 2023 and was promoted to his current role on July 1, 2024. Before his time with the CIAA, Johnson served as a third and fifth-grade teacher for a year and a half before re-entering the sports world. Johnson is a graduate of Tennessee State University, where he was an athletics intern, specializing in social media and game operations.

"We believe that his year as a graduate assistant afforded him a head start in his experience and engagement with our staff and the membership. We are confident that he will make a positive impact on our day-to-day compliance operations and we look forward to the great things we will achieve together."
Moses comes to the CIAA as a recent graduate from member institution Winston-Salem State with a degree in mass communications. He joined the conference staff in July of 2024 and will assist the entire office in a variety of projects, however will primarily focus on graphic design, photography, and videography.
"We are excited to have Mason on board! As a recent graduate from WSSU and a 2024 CIAA Basketball Tournament intern, we have no doubt he is a great fit for this new role," said Butzlaff.
