CHARLOTTE, NC – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) is pleased to announce that Darrell Boswell has been named Coordinator of Championships & Events.

“I am pleased to have Darrell join the CIAA in a full-time capacity and bring new ideas to the table,” said Senior Associate Commissioner for Internal Operations & Business Administration Marcus Clarke. “Darrell’s experience at the conference level as well as knowledge of CIAA championship protocols will give him a unique perspective that will be a great asset for us,” says Marcus Clarke. We are fortunate to have them as part of our staff!”"

A native of Greenbelt, MD, Boswell holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Livingstone College. As the Coordinator of Championships & Events, Darrell will create and implement marketing and promotional planning for various athletic programs, managing all logistics during championships with focus on successful fulfillment, collaborating, with corporate partners to develop in-game promotional activities for select CIAA championships, and reviewing applications conduct site visits and assist in final selection of sites and support site selection our 14 CIAA Championships, among many other duties. He joins the CIAA staff from his most recent stint with Carmax where he served as an Inventory Associate/Front Lot Coordinator. Prior to that, he was a Recreation Specialist at the Naomi Drenan/Methodist Home Recreation Center.

Boswell is very familiar with the CIAA Conference Office having worked for over six years as a Tournament Championship Intern. Some of his responsibilities include assisting the Conference Championship Coordinator with merchandising, providing input for design, signage and décor for meeting areas and the arena. Additionally, he delegated intern responsibilities and duties during the conference basketball tournament, managed team and official’s locker room set up and maintenance, handled and maintained transportation of merchandise and CIAA goods to and from storage.
