NEW ORLEANS – Rosters for the inaugural HBCU All-Star Basketball Game were announced Monday with four players from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) being selected to include Fayetteville State’s Jalen Seegars, Livingstone’s Navar Elmore, Virginia Union’s Jordan Peebles, and Winston-Salem State’s Javonte Cooke.

All four players will represent the conference on Team Clarence “Big House” Gaines, a team comprised of standouts from the CIAA and SWAC. They will face Team John McLendon, which will feature standouts from the MEAC and SIAC.

The roster announcement was made live on CBS Sports HQ and will feature 24 of the country’s top HBCU men’s basketball players.

In addition, FSU’s Seegars was named the Sam Jones Division II National Player of the Year by HBCU All-Stars, LLC.

The Broncos leading scorer this season with 486 points, Seegars was fourth in the CIAA at 16.2 points and 1.2 blocked shots per game while finishing top 15 at 5.4 rebounds per contest. The Greensboro, NC native was named the 2022 CIAA Tournament MVP after helping lead Fayetteville State University to its first CIAA Championship since 1973. He finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and two assists in the Broncos 65-62 victory over Virginia Union in the CIAA Championship game.

Elmore led the CIAA in blocked shots at 2.8 per game while Cooke was a top five scorer (16.2 ppg) in the conference and Peebles was among league leaders in both scoring and rebounds. All four players were All-CIAA selections during the 2021-22 season.

The HBCU All-Star Game, a college basketball showcase highlighting the best HBCU players in the country, will be called by play-by-play announcer Brian Custer, analysts Clark Kellogg and Johnson along with reporter AJ Ross. Custer (Hampton University), Johnson (Southern University) and Ross (Howard University) all attended HBCUs.

The game will be played Sunday, April 3 at 4 PM, ET at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans during Final Four weekend. It will be aired on the CBS Television Network and stream live on Paramount+.
