CHARLOTTE - The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and D2Football.com top 25 polls were recently released with Bowie State being the only team from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) represented. In addition, the Bulldogs along with Fayetteville State made the initial NCAA regional rankings.
Bowie State, who has a 7-1 record but 7-0 in Division II, rose from no. 14 to no. 13 in the AFCA poll and went from no. 10 to ninth in the D2Football.com poll after their 27-7 win over Virginia Union. The Bulldogs come in at number two in Super Region Two, just behind Valdosta State, who is ranked no. 2 nationally in both 25 polls.
BSU will look to wrap up their second straight CIAA Northern Division title and stamp their ticket to the CIAA Championship game (November 13 in Salem, VA) this week when they travel to Lincoln (PA) on Saturday.
FSU ranked no. 10 in Super Region Two with only one Division II loss on their record to Wingate, who came in at no. 6 in the region. The Broncos will also be looking to secure another Southern Division title as they host Livingstone
