NEW YORK, N.Y. – Amir Hinton (Philadelphia, Pa) of the Shaw University men's basketball program has signed as an undrafted free agent contract with the New York Knicks Friday, June 21.

The news comes less than 24 hours after the 2019 NBA draft held in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Hinton has been headlining the Division II sports world since he debuted as a Shaw Bears during the 2018-19 season. Since his arrival, the 6-foot-5 guard led the nation in scoring (29.4 ppg) while posting 4.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game while shooting .894 from the free throw line.

Additionally, the 2018-19 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player of the Year racked up a multiple end of the year accolades and was featured on several sports news platforms such as HBCU Gameday, ESPN, The Undefeated, the Charlotte Post, the Triangle Tribune, News & Observer and the Philadelphia Tribune.

In the latest feature just prior to the draft, Hinton spoke with The Undefeated’s Anthony Gilbert about his background, his journey to Shaw University and now as potential 2019 NBA draftee. The article can be found on www.theundefeated.com or by clicking here.

Hinton joins Kris Wilkes (UCLA) and V.J. King (Louisville) as the Knicks undrafted free agents.
