2019 Softball Weekly Report #9 4/14/2019 3:33:18 PM Schedule/Results 2019 Coca-Cola CIAA Softball Weekly Report #9 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Amya Ferguson, Bowie State University (Fr, OF - Orange, VA, 23) Ferguson was 6-for-11 from the plate, recording two triples and a RBI while also scoring three runs. The freshman outfielder had a matching .545 batting average and OBP with a .909 slugging percentage while contributing 14 putouts and 2 assists with no errors defensively. Ferguson currently leads the CIAA with six triples on the season. PITCHER OF THE WEEK Shannon Buchanan, Chowan University (Jr, P - Virginia Beach, VA, 11) Buchanan had a strong week on the mound as she pitched eight no-hit innings, including a complete game no-hitter against Bowie State. The Virginia Beach, VA native finished the week with a 2-0 record while throwing 12 strikeouts and just three walks, securing her seventh and eighth wins of the season. CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Haley Cooper, Chowan University (Sr, IF - Perquimans County, NC, 12) Cooper went 6-for-14 with a grand slam, double, and six RBI in four contests to finish with a .429 batting average and .714 slugging percentage. The senior also had a .429 on-base percentage while scoring five runs, helping the first place Hawks to a 4-0 record against conference-foes Bowie State and Lincoln. Cooper is currently second in the CIAA went 46 hits. CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Cheyan Brassuer, Elizabeth City State University (So, IF - Sanford, FL, 21) Brassuer went 6-for-14 from the plate a home run, double, and seven RBI in four games, finishing with a .429 batting average and .714 slugging percentage. The Sanford, FL native also had a .467 on-base percentage while scoring two runs to help the Vikings to a 3-1 record that included a sweep of division opponent Virginia State and a split with division-foe Bowie State. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Stephanie Komives, Elizabeth City State University (Fr, C - Virginia Beach, VA, 20) Komives finished the week with 17 putouts and two assists with no errors.
