Fayetteville, N.C. – Fayetteville State chipped away at a 14-point deficit in the second half and sent Capel Arena into an uproar when JaQuel Richmond (Greensboro, N.C.) nailed a three-pointer with six seconds left for a 63-62 victory over Saint Augustine's.

The Broncos (4-15 overall, 3-9 in CIAA play, and 2-4 in the Division) trailed by six (62-56) before Joshua Bryant (Fayetteville, N.C.) drove the lane for a basket with 1:25 left and Richmond pulled up in the paint to cut to the score to 62-60 with 55 seconds left in the game.

After a quick Bronco timeout, Saint Augustine's (6-14, 3-9, 2-5) missed a scoring opportunity that landed out of bounds in favor of FSU.

As Richmond and Bryant exchanged possessions at the top of the key, Joshua drove the ball down the lane and kicked it out to the right side to the waiting hands of JaQuel ignited the pandemonium.

"Honestly, I felt good about the shot", said Richmond in the post-game interview. "Coach drew up a good play and Joshua [Bryant] made a good play. I honestly thought that he was going to go up too, but he drew so many players to the basket."

Richmond finished with 19 points in his first outing since January 12th when the Broncos lost Virginia Union.

"I think Coach seen it in my eyes on the bench that I was anxious to get in," said JaQuel about his return to the court. "I honestly just miss playing because I sat out a year already, so I miss this."

Denzell Hosch (Shelby, N.C.) also finished in double figures with 13 points while Bryant topped at 11.

The Falcons' Tyre Gathright also matched the game-high of 19 points. Jalen Gaddy hit 5-of-10 three-pointers for 17 points.
