The 2019 BOXTOROW All-America Team was announced on Wednesday with four players from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) being selected. In addition, six other players from the conference received honorable mention recognition.

A trio from Bowie State in tight end Dushon David, defensive lineman Joshua Pryor, and defensive back Demetri Morsell along with Johnson C. Smith return specialist Braxton Gambrell made the team.

Bowie State quarterback Ja’rome Johnson, Fayetteville State running back Stevie Green, Saint Augustine's linebacker Durrell Nash, Virginia State offensive lineman Frank Ball, Virginia Union defensive back Sterling Hammond, and Winston-Salem State defensive back Daryus Skinner were all honorable mention.

David, a native of Washington, DC, led Bowie State with 40 catches for 560 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 games, leading all CIAA tight ends in all three categories. The 6-3, 230-pound senior tied for second in the CIAA in receiving touchdowns, third in receiving yards, and fifth in receptions.

Pryor leads Division II in total tackles for loss with 25.5 and led the CIAA this season with 13 sacks, which is top five nationally. A redshirt sophomore from Baltimore, MD, Pryor also ranked among conference leaders with 70 total tackles.

Morsell, a native of Upper Marlboro, MD, led the CIAA with nine interceptions in his sophomore season with four returns for touchdown (three INTs and one fumble), both of which are the most in Division II. The 2019 CIAA Defensive Player of the Year was also second in the conference with 14 passes defended while totaling 35 tackles in 12 games.

Gambrell, who made the team as return specialist and kick returner, had 20 returns (11 kickoffs, nine punts) for 436 total yards, averaging 21.8 yards per return. The senior from Seneca, SC averaged 28.5 yards per punt return and took two punts back for scores on the season, which tied for the most in Division II.
