ETTRICK, Va. (January 28, 2019) –  The Virginia State University men's and women's basketball teams will travel to Bowie, Maryland to face the Bulldogs of Bowie State University (BSU) at A.C. Jordan Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 30. The women's game will tipoff at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.

The Women's Game: The Trojans (8-10, 2-7 CIAA, 0-3 North) fell to the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), 72-59, at the R.L. Vaughan Center on Jan. 26.  Green finished the contest with another double double performance of the season with securing 15 points and 11 rebounds in 38 minutes of play. The Jamestown, New York native was 5-of-13 from the line and finished with three assists and three steals. Autumn Hopson recorded 12 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
  
The Bowie State women's basketball team (16-3, 8-2 CIAA, 1-2 North) secured a 47-45 victory over the Hawks of Chowan University on Jan. 26. The Bulldogs were led offensively by junior Kyaja Williams with 14 points to go along with five rebounds, three steals and one assist. Senior Lea Whitehead came off the Bowie State bench to record nine points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field.

The last time the two schools met was last season where the Trojans collected a 67-59 victory over the Bulldogs on Jan. 27, 2018. The Trojans also yielded a 68-56 decision to the Bulldogs on Feb. 21, 2018.
 
The Men's Game: The Trojans (17-3, 9-0 CIAA, 3-0 North) defeated the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University, 69-54, at the R.L. Vaughan Center on Jan. 26. Brandon Holley finished with 15 points on 5-of-13 shots from the field to go along with one rebound and one assist. Jahmere Howze posted a 12-point performance, to go with four rebounds and two steals. Andrew Corum finished the contest with contributing eight points.
  
BSU men (12-9, 8-2 CIAA, 2-1 North) secured a 68-57 victory over Chowan University on Jan. 26 at the Helms Center. Redshirt junior David Belle led four Bowie State players in double figure scoring with 20 points followed by juniors Cameron Hayes and Saiquan Jamison with 16 and 12 points respectively.  Belle and Jamison also tied for game-high rebound honors with nine apiece. Sophomore Justin Route scored a career-high 11 points in the victory.
 
The last time the two schools met was last season where the Trojans suffered a tough 65-55 loss to the Bulldogs on Jan. 27, 2018. The Trojans secured a 75-65 victory over Bowie State on Feb. 21, 2018.
