JCSU breaks losing streak with impressive road win over Carson Newman

Johnson C. Smith overcame its shooting woes behind a season high 27 points by Roddric Ross, a season high 22 points by Cayse Minor and a season high 14 points by Justice Goodloe to defeat Carson Newman, 85-71 on the road in Jefferson City, Tn. Monday night.

Ross also took down 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.

Down by two at the half (38-36), the Golden Bulls overcame its second half shooting slump from previous games scoring 49 points on 70% shooting (18 of 27) from the field which included making five of eight three point attempts for 61% behind the arc.

JCSU also dominated inside outscoring the Eagles 40-28 in the painted area.

With the win, the Golden Bulls break their three-game losing streak and improve to 4-10 on the season while Carson Newman falls to 10-8.

JCSU returns to CIAA conference play when they travel to Raleigh to take on Saint Augustine's Wednesday evening .  Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
