Ray scores 1,000 career points to lead LC to 79-69 victory

SALISBURY – Roger Ray recorded a career-high 33 points to score his 1,003 career points, as Livingstone College cruised to a 79-69 win over Claflin University on Saturday night inside New Trent Gym.
 
Ray, a junior senior guard out of Raleigh, North Carolina, scored his second 30 plus point game this season, added eight assists and two steals.

Lydell Elmore had a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.
 
Claflin (6-11) was paced by Trent Rolle with 18 points and four rebounds, while Triston Thompson collected 15 points.

LC (10-6) hit 43.6 percent from the field on 24-of-55 shooting on the night, while Claflin made only 45.1 percent of its field goal attempts, connecting on 23-51 from the floor. The Blue Bears dominated the inside, out-rebounding the Panthers 40-25 and out-scoring the visitors 26-24 in the paint.
 
The halftime advantage for LC was 35-33, and outscored the Panthers in the second half 44-36.
