SALISBURY, NC  – The Livingstone College Blue Bears closed out the first half with a 19-5 run and went on to take an 85-73 victory over the Benedict College Tigers in a non-conference men's basketball game on Thursday night.

Senior Roger Ray shot 8-for-13 from the field and led LC with a season-high 28 points, including 13 in the last 7:35. He added six assists and two steals.

Livingstone led by as many as 19 points on two occasions in the second half, until Benedict closed within 10 on a lay-up, 82-73 with 1:31 on the clock.

Livingstone did shoot 51.7 percent from the field and Benedict shot a season-low 34.2 percent from the floor on 3-point attempts.

The Blue Bears outrebounded the Tigers 50-36.

Livingstone improves to 5-2, while the loss drops the Tigers to 0-7 on the season.

Livingstone visits Paine College on Monday night, then breaks for end-of-semester exams. It opens conference play Dec. 15 at Virginia Union.
