Gannon Advances to Gary Miller Classic Championship Game with 70-62 Win over Fayetteville State

Erie, Pa. – The Fayetteville State men's basketball team continues to work through team development in search of its first win of the season. The Broncos (0-4 overall) surrendered a 36-32 halftime lead to a 70-62 defeat to Gannon (2-1 overall) in the 35
th Annual Gary Miller Classic in Erie, Pa.
Will Brown scored a season high 19 points with six of ten shooting from the field. He also made 7-of-8 free throws, grabbed nine rebounds, and blocked three shots. Nakia Rivers also scored double-digit points with 14 while Denzell Hosch missed the mark with nine points.
Fayetteville State had a better defensive performance with 15 forces turnovers which led to 19 points off turnovers. The Broncos struggled from the field making 37% (20 of 54) of its selections. In the second half, FSU made 9 of 31 shots. FSU was also challenged with 5-of-23 three pointers. Fayetteville State did make 89.5% of its free throws, just missing two at the line; 17-of-19.
FSU trailed by four, 50-54, with 6:18 left in the game. The Broncos missed five field goals which helped Gannon extend its lead to 11 (66-55) with under a minute to go in the classic.
Gannon had ten more points in the paint scoring 34 to FSU's 24 and made 49.2% (29-59) of its shots. The Golden Knights netted four consecutive free throws and a dunk to secure the victory.
