Andre Springs entered Fayetteville State University in 1976 and became the first-ever freshman to win the CIAA Golf Championship in addition to being named FSU’s Most Outstanding Freshman.  He was also honored as a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletic (NAIA) All-American and All-CIAA Tournament team member.  As the most valuable player for three consecutive years, Springs assisted his team to four CIAA team championships.  Post-graduation, the FSU alum entered a mini-tour for several years before becoming head coach of Livingstone College’s golf program.  He was named CIAA Golf Coach of the Year in 1986 and 1987.  In 1987, he launched a minority golf clinic to help youth players develop golf skills in preparation for local and national golf competitions.  Springs departed Livingstone to become the General Manager of the Cleveland Golf Courses in Cleveland, Ohio, but later returned to revamp the college’s golf program as the head men’s golf coach and also the assistant athletic director of fundraising.  After his first year back, Springs was recognized as Livingstone’s Coach of the Year.  In 2012, he was appointed Director of Athletics and in 2015, he coached his first CIAA Golf Championship.
