Mark Sherrill played his collegiate basketball career at Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) and continues in his passion with his 23rd season as the top assistant coach for his alma mater.  Sherrill was a four-year letterman (1988-1992) and is JCSU’s second all-time leading scorer with 2,552 points.  During the 1990-91 season, Sherrill averaged 25.8 points per game and earned several accolades for his outstanding performance including CIAA Rookie of the Year, first team All-Rookie selection, and All-CIAA honors.  He is currently ranked sixth in all-time CIAA scoring.  In 1994, Sherrill became the JCSU men’s basketball assistant coach, alongside his former head coach Stephen Joyner, Sr.  Sherrill assisted the Golden Bulls to their first-ever CIAA Tournament Championship and NCAA South Atlantic Regional Championship and their first appearance at the NCAA Elite Eight National Tournament in 2001.  With his contributions, the team has gone on to win two additional CIAA Tournament Championships (2008, 2009).
