Thomas Blue was a stellar basketball player at Elizabeth City State University from 1974-1978. The four-time All-CIAA athlete finished his career averaging 24 points and 14.7 rebounds per game. With 1,411 rebounds, he became the university’s career leader and second all-time leading scorer with 2,121 points. In 1976, Blue led the CIAA in scoring with 26.1 points per game and led the NCAA Division II with a rebounding average of 16.7 per game. He later became a three-time CIAA Player of the Year for 1976, 1977 and shared the honor in 1978. Blue was named the CIAA tournament’s most valuable player in 1975 and the NCAA South Atlantic Regional Tournament MVP in 1978. In 2001, Elizabeth City State enshrined Thomas Blue into their Athletic Hall of Fame.
