    Founder of CIAA
Bob Moorman made his first introduction into the CIAA as a student-athlete at Hampton University in the 1940s. He also attended the University of Maryland while serving in the Armed Forces, graduating with a degree in military science. After 20 years as a military paratrooper, Moorman retired and became the head football coach at Wiley College. Following his time at Wiley, he worked with the scouting staff of the San Diego Chargers for six years. In 1976, Moorman became the CIAA’s full time commissioner following the MEAC and CIAA split. Both the football and basketball programs grew expeditiously while under Moorman’s watchful eye. During his tenure he served on the NCAA Council, the Division II Basketball Committee, the Division II Football Committee, the NCAA Professional Liaison Committee and on the executive board of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
