Clifton Huff, a Wilmington, N.C. native, has played a number of roles in the CIAA. Beginning at Livingstone College as a track and field student-athlete, Huff had a legendary career earning countless conference, regional, and national honors. He holds the school record for the decathlon, where he met the 1984 USA Olympic Trial standards. Huff’s longest tenure as a Blue Bear was as a coach of the track and field program. After taking over the program in 1991, Huff coached 44 NCAA Division II All-Americans, 108 All-CIAA performers and 28 CIAA individual champions. As a coach, Huff was named the CIAA Coach of the Year four times. Huff recently joined the Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics as an Academic Advisor and Assistant Track and Field Coach. Huff’s continuing contributions to the CIAA has gained him awards such as CIAA 100 Greatest Athletes and Coaches.
