Earl “Air” Harvey played his collegiate football career at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) where he was a four-time First-Team All-CIAA Selection (1985-88) at quarterback. In 1985, Harvey became the first-ever rookie in NCAA history to throw for more than 3,000 yards. That year he was also selected to the Black College Sports All-American Second Team and was recognized as the Black College Sports Freshman of the Year after completing 188-of-392 passing attempts for 22 touchdown passes and 7 rushing touchdowns. During his career, Harvey set NCCU, CIAA, and NCAA Division II records in career pass completions (690), passing yards (10,621), career total offense (10,667), and career touchdown passes (86). The standout senior quarterback was honored as a 1988 American Football Coaches Association All-American and guided the Eagles to the second-round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.
