JENNA ARNOLD RUNS FASTEST 5K IN VSU HISTORY

Virginia State University's Jenna Arnold ran the fastest
five-kilometer race in VSU history when she led the Lady Trojans to
an 18-40 win over Virginia Union University on Wednesday at Bryan
Park in Richmond, Va.
Arnold, a freshman from Philadelphia, Pa., ran the five-kilometer
course in 19:12.6, besting the old VSU record by 16 seconds. The
previous VSU record for five-kilometers was 19:28, set by Shylan
Scott in 2000.
Arnold's time was also a course record for the Bryan Park
course.
VSU, as a team, captured four of the top five spots in the
race.
Raphaela Garris was third with a time of 21:33.0, Shayla Szabo was
fourth in 22:37.7, Charlene Hymon was fifth at 23:32.4 and Ocha
Crenshaw was sixth at 23:38. Faith Brock finished seventh with a
time of 24:20.
