2005 CIAA Fall Sports Championships

St. Augustine's, N.C. Central take CIAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships

CARY, NC – St. Augustine’s reclaimed the men’s championship and N.C. Central's women surprised the field and ran away with their first CIAA Cross Country Championship. Last year it was N.C. Central winning the men and St. Augustine’s won the women. 

In the men’s 8K race, the Falcons had three runners to finish in the top 10 leading them to the team title with 52 points, 10 points better than second place Shaw who had two runners in the top 10 and 62 points.

Livingstone’s Darius Shade won the individual title with a time of 24:54.20, pacing the Blue Bears to a third place 84 points.

The Lady Eagles had three runners to finish in the top 10 led by two time defending champion Yolanda Barber who finished the 5K course with a time of 19:10.9. Barber’s win gave NCCU its seventh individual title in the past eight years. 

The Lady Eagles won with 32 points and the Lady Falcons who also had three to finish in the top 10 was second with 63 points. Bowie State finished third with 105 points.
