JCSU Cross Country Competes at Wingate

Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 25, 2016)  The Johnson C. Smith University cross country teams competed at the Wingate Bulldog Stampede on Saturday, Sept. 24 with the men's team claiming a fifth-place finish while the women's team finished in eighth.

Leading the way for the JCSU women was Fellan Ferguson (Kingston, Jamaica), finishing in 25th place on the 5K course with a 26:07.32.  Teammates Tovea Jenkins (St. James, Jamaica) and October Campbell (High Point, N.C.) finished in 47th and 48th place, respectively.

Marvin Woodward (Bloomfield, Conn.) was the top JCSU male finisher, completing the 8K course in 35:58.62, good for 35th. Isaac Ross finished in 36th with a 38:00.64 while Joshua Cunningham (Toronto, Ontario) ran a 40:47.83.

Next up for the JCSU cross country teams is the HBCU Challenge at the WakeMed Soccer Complex Cross Country Course in Cary, N.C. on Oct. 1, 2016.
