Lady Panthers Capture Panther Classic

Virginia Union University's women's cross-country team captured its second straight meet when the Lady Panthers won the Panther Classic held on Friday, September 16, at Bryan Park in Richmond, Va.

VUU won the meet with 22 total team points, compared to Virginia State University's 40 points, Chowan University's 76 points and Elizabeth City State University's 86 points.

VUU runners captured four of the top five positions, with Imani Jackson winning individual honors with a time of 21:05.3 over the five-kilometer course.

VUU's Alexus Copeland was second with a time of 21:05.5 while teammate Chelsea Lewis was third with a time of 21:11.6.

Virginia Union's Eboni Watford was fifth with a time of 22:01.2 and VUU's Winter Walker was 11th with a time of 23:44.3.

VUU's Nasjae Benson was 12th with a time of 23:49.3 while Chelsea Saunders 17th with a time of 25:58.3.

Virginia Union's Perrisha Robinson ran the course with a time of 26:42.4 and Destiny Huggins finished with a time of 29:18.1.

Virginia Union now travels to Petersburg, Va., to compete in the VSU Invite on Friday, September 23.
