CU Volleyball Standout Tori Lewis Heads to England
MURFREESBORO, NC- Chowan University volleyball
standout Tori Lewis will continue her athletic and
academic career at Durham University in Durham, England.
Lewis has earned a spot on the Durham University volleyball team,
as well as the opportunity to attend the university as a graduate
student.
Lewis was one of eight players selected for the team out of over
200 applicants. She will head to Durham to begin training
with the squad in September, and will compete in international play
beginning in October. The caliber of play is comparable to
NCAA Division I volleyball. Lewis is the only player on the
team to have competed at the NCAA Division II level during her time
as an undergraduate student-athlete.
Not only will Lewis have the chance to play volleyball, but she
will also earn a master's degree in Business Management while
attending Durham University. She will spend a total of one
year at the institution.
“This is opportunity has motivated me to work harder and stay
at the top of my game”, stated Lewis. “It will be
an awesome experience to play at the top level of international
competition and test my abilities.”
Tori Lewis had an exceptional career as a student-athlete at Chowan
University. In 2009, she was an NCAA Division II Statistical
Champion, averaging .98 aces per set. She was an integral
part of the 2009 and 2010 CIAA Championship team, as well as the
2011 CIAA Runner-Up team.
Lewis was a three time All-CIAA First Team selection, CIAA
Tournament MVP in 2010, and was named 2011 CIAA Player of the Year
during her senior season.
