Shaw's Lady Bears Basketball Team to Receive Proclamation from City of Raleigh
Raleigh, NC - (April 28, 2006) The Shaw University Lady Bears Basketball team will be recognized with a special proclamation from the City of Raleigh on Tuesday, May 2nd at 1:00 p.m. in Council Chambers located at 222 W. Hargett Street. Mayor Charles Meeker, along with City Council members will honor the team for their outstanding accomplishments this season.
Dr. Clarence G. Newsome, President of Shaw University stated, "We are extremely proud of what this dynamic group of young women has accomplished this season. They are outstanding scholars off of the court and they have represented Shaw University well. This honor is well deserved." Dr. Newsome will accompany the team and coaching staff for this special event.
The Shaw University Family, including students, faculty, alumni and the community-at-large are requested to come out in large numbers to fill the audience and show your active pride and support.
This is a wonderful prelude to the athletic banquet that will be held to honor the athletes of the University on May 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Willie E. Gary Student Center Ballroom.
