Charlotte, NC (Aug. 9, 2017)
– Johnson C. Smith University alumna Danielle Williams will compete in the 100m hurdles at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London.

Williams enters this year’s championships as one of the favorites in the 100m hurdles. Having missed out on selection for last year's Olympics, Williams is back in the best shape of her professional career. She recorded a personal best time of 12.56 to win the Jamaican title and finished third at the IAAF Diamond League meet in Monaco, just 0.07 behind world record holder and American Kendra Harrison.

In 2015, Williams took gold in the event by running a 12.57, finishing ahead of competitors from Germany and Belarus.

The 100m hurdles will begin with heat races at 10:45 London time (5:45 a.m. ET) on Friday, August 11.  Semifinal action will be at 7:05 p.m. London time (2:05 ET), also on Friday.

The event finals will be contested on Saturday, Aug. 12 at 8:05 p.m. London time (3:05 p.m. ET).
