New Orleans, LA – For the first time since the 2013-14 season, Shaw University outdoor track and field had two athletes named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region Team announced Tuesday, May 16.

For the Lady Bears, senior Destinee Williams of Leesburg, Florida (left) and freshman Tiara Derosa of Sandy's, Bermuda (right) were both named All-Region for their respective events. Williams received the award for the 100-meter hurdles after lowering her preliminary time with a 13.74. She currently ranks 12th in the nation in the event.

Derosa earned recognition in the discus. She threw a season-best 44.78 earlier in the season and represented her Bermuda in the 2017 Carifta Games where she placed third overall.

Prior to Tuesday's announcement, Darian Brown was the last All-Region athlete from Shaw to make the All-Region team, earning honors in 2013-14 in the 110 hurdles.

Williams will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 26.
