Johnson C. Smith Track and Field Open Season at Shamrock Invitational with an Impressive Showing
CONWAY, S.C. - March 19, 2007- The Johnson C. Smith University men’s and women’s track and field teams finished competition in the Shamrock Invitational on Saturday, Mar. 17. Johnson C. Smith women had two top 10 ten finishers in their first meet of the 2007 season. Senior Brittni Dash took fifth place in the triple jump with a 10.38 meter mark and Tiana Pope finished 10th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.72 seconds. Dash also finished 12th in the long with a jump of 4.93 meters.
Omar Bizzellfinished 11th in the 400m with a time of 50.01 seconds. The 4x100 men’s relay team ofDemetrius Hawkins, Shaun Lilly, Omar Bizzell, andDe’Audra Dix finished eighth overall with a time of 43.56 seconds.
In the field events, Ty Jordan finished eighth overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.90m. JCSU had an 11th and 16th place finish in the javelin. Artis Carter was 11th (47.84 m) and Coleman McNeil was 16th (44.34 m).
Up next, the JCSU teams will head to Durham, N.C. on Mar. 24 to compete in the Leroy T. Walker Olympic Development Meet on the campus of North Carolina Central University.
