Raleigh, NC (June 6) – Marley Parker of Saint Augustine's University scooped up another national award when she was named to the Google Cloud Division II Academic All-America Softball Team on Wednesday. She was a third-team selection as a designated player.
Parker made her second All-America team in two weeks. In late May, the DII Collegiate Commissioner's Association placed Parker on its All-America softball team.
Hailing from Langley, British Columbia, Parker excelled in the classroom and on the field. She graduated summa cum laude with an exercise science degree and a 3.87 grade point average in May. An SAU graduate attains summa cum laude status by attaining a cumulative GPA between 3.8 and 4.0.
As a player, Parker was one of the top Division II hitters this season. She ranked among the top five nationally in four offensive categories including batting average (2nd/.517), toughest to strike out (2nd/87.0), slugging percentage (4th/1.000) and runs batted in per game (5th/1.33). Parker also ranked sixth in on base percentage (.558), 10th in runs per game (1.33), 17th in triples per game (0.15) and 26th in doubles per game (0.37).
Led by Parker, the Lady Falcons ranked among the top five nationally in five offensive categories on their way to claiming the CIAA Southern Division title. The Lady Falcons ranked first in triples per game (0.96), second in batting average (.359) and doubles per game (2.41), fourth in slugging percentage (.606) and fifth in runs per game (8.07). The Lady Falcons also ranked 15th in stolen bases per game (2.22) and 16th in on base percentage (.418).
In addition to two national accolades, Parker earned DII CCA All-Atlantic Region and Google Cloud Academic All-District honors this season. She was named to the All-CIAA team for the third straight year.
Parker finished her four-year collegiate career with a .439 batting average and a .735 slugging percentage. She hit 19 home runs and 35 doubles in addition to scoring 106 runs and tallying 119 RBIs.
