MURFREESBORO – Brian DeWitt has been named Assistant
Softball Coach at Chowan University. He will work primarily with
the Hawks pitchers and catchers. DeWitt comes to Murfreesboro with
an extensive playing and coaching career.
DeWitt is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
During his time there, he was a member of an ASA National team.
Upon graduation, he took a high school teaching position in Tomah,
WI, where he was also the head softball coach for five seasons.
DeWitt continued to play in the same ASA National league while in
Tomah.
DeWitt then became the head softball coach at Highland Community
College, located in Highland, Kansas. He turned around a struggling
program there and won 45 games in his three seasons as skipper. In
2004, DeWitt became the first ever softball coach at Louisiana
State University-Eunice. He led the Lady Bengals to a 21-19 record,
including a national ranking, in their first season of
competition.
Most recently, DeWitt was the head softball coach at Kalamazoo
College, where he stayed for two seasons. “I am honored to be
at Chowan University. I am looking forward to learning from Coach
Balduf, while also contributing in my own way to help this program.
I am truly thrilled to have this opportunity,” said
DeWitt.
