FOUR LADY BULLDOGS NAMED TO DAKTRONICS MID-ATLANTIC ALL-REGION TEAM

(LOCK HAVEN, PA) The 2008 Daktronics Mid-Atlantic All-Region softball teams have been announced and Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs place four on the team.

Lock Haven University's Kristin Erb was named 2008 Mid-Atlantic Pitcher of the Year, while teammate Sarah Norris earned Player of the Year honors for the region.

Lock Haven, Kutztown University and Bloomsburg University all had three players named to the First Team, while 12 of the 13 first teamers came from within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

Senior Erin Gray of Bowie State was named to the First Team at second base after a tremendous season for the Lady Bulldogs and represents the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).  Juniors Heather Enders(pitcher), Tricia Corbin (catcher) and Tiffany Toney (shortstop) were selected to the All-Region Secon Team.

Erb, a junior continued to dominated in the circle and was named one of the region's top pitchers for the third straight season. A native of Reading, Pa., Erb won her 100th game and posted her 50th career shutout during action this season as well as breaking numerous school marks. Erb broke her own LHU single season strikeouts record when she recorded her 300th strikeout of the year against Kutztown in mid-April. Currently, Erb has struck ourt down 347 batters on the season. Erb also has tossed three perfect games this season, with her most recent perfect outing coming during this past weekend'sPSAC championships. Erb also broke the NCAA DII consecutive scoreless innings mark when she threw her 84th consecutive shutout inning against Edinboro on April 12. Erb is currently the conference leader in every major pitching category and is the national leader in ERA with a .24 earned run average.

Norris has had a breakout junior season and leads the Lock Haven squad in four categories, as she anchors down a strong offensive attack at the plate. With her 15 homers on the year, Norris surpassed the all-time Lock Haven career homeruns record and now is the career leader at LHU with 40 career long balls. Norris is also hitting at a .369 clip, has scored 43 times and leads the team in slugging percentage (.758). Norris is second in the PSAC in those categories as well, while being seventh in the nation in homeruns per game.

The members of the 2008 Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team will appear on the 2008 Dakrtonics All-American ballot.
