BOWIE STATE MAKES FIRST EVER NCAA SOFTBALL APPEARANCE
Lady Bulldogs Face PSAC Champion Lock Haven

(INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - May 7, 2007)  The NCAA Division II Softball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will participate in the 2007 NCAA Division II Softball Regional Championships. The CIAA Champion Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University are seeded 8th in the Mid-Atlantic Region and will face the regions top seed, the Lady Eagles of Lock Haven (PA) University.

Bowie State will enter the regional with a record of 27-7 while Lock Haven, the 2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion and defending national champion, come into the game with a record of 45-3.  Bowie State and Lock Haven will be game two when play begins Thursday (5/10) at Kutztown (PA) University's North Campus Field at a time to be determined.

In other regional games, East Stroudsburg (#4) will take on Shippensburg (#5) in Thursday's opening game, followed by BSU and LU.  Bloomsburg (#3) will battle with North Carolina Central (#6) in the third game of the afternoon and host Kutztown (#2) will face Edinboro (#7) in the nightcap.

Eight teams will participate at each of eight regional sites in double-elimination tournaments to determine the final eight championship participants. Regional competition will be held May 10-14. Winners will advance to the finals hosted by Ashland University May 17-21, at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.
