VUU Men Placed Third at HBCU Challenge

Virginia Union University's men's cross-country was the highest CIAA team to finish while placing third in the the HBCU Cross-Country Challenge, held on Saturday, October 1, in Cary, N.C.

VUU placed third among Division II schools with a team score of 66. Morehouse College won the event with 36 total team points while Benedict College was third with 57 points.

Virginia Union's Luis Nieves was the highest Panther finisher by placing third among D-II finishers with a time of 26:37.1 over the eight-kilometer course.

VUU's Arthur Casey was 10th with a time of 29:19.4 and Myles Watson was 14th with a time of 29:18.7.

Virginia Union's Linda Moise was 16th with a time of 29:37.2 while teammate Jordan Fountain was 23rd with a time of 30:15.4.

VUU's Charles Whitehead-Tillery was 30th with a time of 30:54.1 and Iyon Oravitz was 52nd with a time of 34:42.4.

VUU now returns home to host the VUU Invite at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, in Richmond, Va.
