Former Saint Augustine's Basketball Star Signs To Play In Canada

Raleigh, NC (Sept. 13) – Former standout Joel Kindred of Saint Augustine's University recently inked a deal to play pro basketball in Canada.

 

Kindred signed with the Halifax Hurricanes of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). The Hurricanes, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, begin the 2018-19 season in November.

 

The former Falcons' star previously played in Spain, where he averaged 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists for Cantaires Tortosa during the 2017-18 season. Kindred shot 56 percent behind the three-point arc.

 

A Raleigh, N.C., native, Kindred was a 1,000-point scorer during his four-year collegiate career from 2011 to 2014, earning CIAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman. In May 2014, Kindred graduated from Saint Augustine's University with a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management.
