MARQUEE MATCHUP OF THE WEEK:

Saint Leo Lions (6-2) at Elizabeth City State Vikings (6-2)                                                 Monday December 17

The 6-2 Vikings hope to head into the holidays on a winning note when they host the SLU Lions from Saint Leo, Florida.  Elizabeth City State is led by veteran All-CIAA guard Angelo Sharpless.  Sharpless, a versatile 6-4 guard from Plymouth, NC, is third in the CIAA in scoring, averaging 23.6 points a game.  Sharpless is also the Vikings top rebounder, hauling down 9.0 boards a game, which ranks second in the conference.  He has been on an absolute scoring tear lately, averaging nearly 27 points in the Vikings’ last six games, including a career-high 33 points in a loss to Benedict on December 3.  ECSU is also getting strong play from guards Deon Rice, Glen Patterson, Quentin Spady, and Blake Price.  Forward Ade Barek is the Vikings’ top post player.  Saint Leo, a member of the Sunshine State Conference, comes into the game sporting a 6-2 record.  The Lions are led by a trio of guards in Marcus Ruh, Jerrel Harris, and Trent Thomas who combine to average 43.6 of SLU’s 68.8 points per game.  Forward Shaun Adams is their top rebounder at 6.8 per game.  The Vikings will be Saint Leo’s fourth CIAA opponent this season.  SLU handed Lincoln (PA) their only loss of the season when they defeated them 51-46 in the Fresh Coast Classic on November 23.  The next night, Saint Leo dropped a 63-57 decision to Winston-Salem State.  The Lions improved to 2-1 against CIAA squads when they pick up a 76-49 road win over Virginia Union on Saturday.
