St. Aug Men’s Hoopsters Team Up With Habitat for Humanity

September 1, 2011

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Saint Augustine’s College men’s basketball team will join forces with Habitat for Humanity of Wake County to build a house near campus on Friday (Sept. 2).

The Falcons will join other volunteers at 515 Parnell Drive in the Long Acres community in southeast Raleigh from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. The team will help with carpentry, roofing, siding, painting, landscaping and other duties. The community service project will be one of many for the men’s basketball team this season.

“This is a great way for Saint Augustine’s College and the men’s basketball program to give back to the community,” Head Coach Ken Spencer said. “This is an opportunity to help Habitat for Humanity with a family in need, and also a way to help our team bond with one another.”

This is part of the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative in the Long Acres community created by Habitat for Humanity of Wake County and the City of Raleigh Community Development Department.
