CIAA Basketball Coaches Association Announce Selects for 2009 All-Conference Teams and Players of the Year

Hampton, VA... The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's and Women's Basketball Coaches Associations have selected this year's honorees of the 2009 All-CIAA Teams and Players of the Year. 
 
Tatiana Ellis of Saint Paul's College, the 2009 CIAA Player of the Year, and
Anthony Hilliard, the Elizabeth City State University two-time CIAA Player of the Year, lead the conference in scoring respectively.
 
Ellis, a junior guard from Harlem, NY ranks 10th nationally in scoring and stands at the top of the conference with 22.2ppg; 554 total points scored.  Tatiana also leads the conference in 3-pt field goals made with 2.20pg.
 
In his senior campaign Anthony Hilliard heads the conference in scoring 23.6ppg, 591 total points and rebounding 11.6rpg; 290 total.  A forward from Fayetteville, NC, Hilliard ranks 3rd nationally in rebounds and 5th in the nation in scoring.
 
The 2009 Women's Defensive Player of the Year, Denisha Kenion of the Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs ranks 29th nationally in steals and 1st in the CIAA with 3.12pg; 78 total.  Kenion, a senior guard from Fort Washington, MD also tops the conference in the assists category, 4.2pg, 105 total; dominating followers by 39.
 
Men's Defensive Player of the Year, James Dillard hails from Johnson C. Smith University.  Dillard, a junior forward from Apex. NC is listed at the top of the conference in blocked shots, 50 total, 2.27pg and ranks in the CIAA's top 5 rebounders 8.2rpg; 180 total.  Dillard is 3rd in the nation in field goal percentage (69.1%) and 24th in blocked shots.
 
The All-CIAA Teams and Players of the Year will be honored at the Women's and Men's Tip-Off Luncheon on February 24th.
