HILLIARD NAMED TO DAKTRONICS DIVISION II ALL- AMERICAN TEAM

Junior Guard Receives First All-American Nod as Voted By Division II Sports Information Directors

EDINBORO, PA- Anthony Hilliard has been tabbed as a member of Daktronics All-American Men’s Basketball Second Team as voted by the Division II Sports Information Directors.

On a team that was comprise of mainly seniors, Hilliard, the 2008 CIAA Player of the Year and Co-Player of the Year for the South Atlantic Region, is one of just two juniors selected to this year’s squad.

John Smith of Winona State University has been named the 2008 Daktronics NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Year. Voting was conducted among Division II Sports Information Directors.
Daktronics is a world leader in programmable electronic signs, electronic and digital displays and scoreboards.

Hilliard was the lone junior selected to the Daktronics Second Team after leading the Vikings to their first 20-win season since 1999. He led the CIAA in both scoring (19.7) and rebounding in 2007-08 and for the second straight year was the only men’s basketball player in the conference to average a double-double. He stands at fourth overall in NCAA Division II in rebounding with an 11.4 average.
He also represents the only CIAA honoree on this year’s Daktronics All-American team. The complete 2008 All-American Team is as follows.
