CHARLOTTE, NC - The Chowan Men's Golf team and golfer Alan Day from Virginia Union University wrapped up the opening round of the NCAA DII Atlantic Regional Tournament in West Virginia on Monday afternoon. The Hawks sit tied for 17th after firing of a round of 316. Day is tied at 58th out of over 100 individuals finishing with a score of 79.
Billy Britton led the Hawks with an opening round 74 (+2) and tied for 13th. Britton finished with three birdies on the front nine. Britton shot one-over on the front for a 37. Jordan Francis and Rich Edwards each posted a 79 (+7) Francis carded five pars with a front nine score of 41, while Edwards totaled a six par with a front nine score of 39. Christian Fleetwood came in fourth for the Hawks with a 84. Steven Rhinard rounded things out for the Hawks with a 90.
The Hawks and Panther Alan Day will tee things up in the second round of the NCAA DII Atlantic Regional Tournament on Tuesday, May 9th in a shotgun start at 10am.
