China Grove, NC – The Fayetteville State University men’s golf team concluded play at the CIAA Southern Divisional Championship in fourth place on Tuesday, March 21st at the Warrior Golf Course. The Broncos posted a first round score of 318 and a second round team score of 326. FSU had a two-day total of 644 (+76) on the Par 71, 6,609-yard course.

Virginia Union University surpassed Livingstone College by just three strokes with a total score of 625 (+57) to claim victory in the divisional tournament. The Blue Bears shot 319 on day one and 309 on day two for a total of 628 (+60) for second place. Chowan University shot a two day total of 638 (+70) to place in the top three.
Sophomore Adam Capps (Salemburg, NC) carded a 74 in the first round and shot 82 in the final round to finish in 10th place in the field of 43 golfers. Sophomore Isaiah Shaw (Altamonte Springs, FL) had a two day score of 160 (+18) to place one spot behind Capps in 11th.
Sophomore Nick Pennix (Mebane, NC) concluded the event 13th overall with a two-day total of 161 (+19). Pennix shot 81 on day one, followed by a final round score of 80.
Sophomore Christian Villanueva (Fayetteville, NC) carded 82 in the opening round and shot an 85 in the second round for a two-day total of 167 (+25). Junior Austen Parlett (Hope Mills, NC) shot 95 on day one and shaved off five strokes to card 90 for a total of 185 (+43).
Virginia State University earned fifth place honors with a total of 665 (+97). Johnson C. Smith University finished just three strokes in front of Elizabeth City State with a two-day total of 706 (+138). ECSU declined by seven strokes with a second day score of 358 for a total of 709. Saint Augustine’s University finished with a total of 914 (+346) as the final competitor.
The Broncos will travel to Murfreesboro, NC to participate in the CIAA Northern Divisional Championships hosted by Chowan University. Competition will begin on March 26th and wrap up on March 28th.
