Hawks Conclude NCAA Super Region Tournament Play

BALDWINSVILLE, NY- The Chowan University men's golf team concluded their season on Wednesday afternoon after finishing the third round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Region Tournament.  The Hawks posted a team score of 330 in the third round and a three-day total of 988.  Chowan finished in 20th place in the 20-team field. 

St. Thomas Aquinas finished in first place with a third round score of 301 and total team score of 897.  They finished six strokes ahead of Southern New Hampshire who recorded a team score 903. 

Billy Britton carded a team-low 79 in the final round to finish tied for 49th place individually with a three-day total of 234.  Jordan Francis shot an 85 in the final day of play and tied for 89th place in the field after posting a three-day score of 247. 

Steven Rhinard also carded an 85 on Wednesday.  He posted a three-day score of 253.  Rich Edwards followed with a three-day score of 255.  He shot an 81 in the final round for the Chowan Blue and White and finished in 104th place.  Christian Fleetwood recorded a three-day score of 260 and carded an 85 in the final round of play. 

Christopher Gentle of St. Thomas Aquinas took home individual medalist honors after carding an even-par 72 in the final round of play.  He recorded a three-day score of 213. 

The Hawks end the 2015-16 season after winning the CIAA Northern Division Tournament for the third straight season, clinching their first CIAA Championship crown, and making their first NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Region Tournament appearance in program history. 

Chowan returns to action in the Fall of 2016.
