Hawks Open Play at NCAA Super Region Tournament

BALDWINSVILLE, NY- The Chowan University men's golf team concluded the first two rounds of play at the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.  Due to postponed play on Monday as a result of inclement weather, the conclusion of round one along with the entire second round was played on Tuesday. 

The Hawks posted a round one score of 331 and shaved four strokes off their first round score with a 327 team score in the second round.  Chowan heads into the final round of play in 20th place in the 20-team field. 

St. Thomas Aquinas carded a two-round low of 596 and maintains a two-stroke lead of first place.  Christopher Gentile leads the field with a two-day score of 141.  He carded 77 in the opening round and shot a 64 in round two.  Southern New Hampshire stands in second with a two-round team score of 598.

Billy Britton paced the Hawks on Monday and Tuesday.  He opened tournament play with a 79 and shaved three strokes off his first round score to card a 76 in the second round of play.  Britton stands tied for 41st place individually.  Jordan Francis battled back from a first round score of 83 to card a 79 in the second round. 

Steven Rhinard posts a two-round score of 168 after shooting an 84 in both the first and second rounds of play.  Rich Edwards shot an 85 in the first round and followed up with an 89 in round two while Christian Fleetwood carded an 87 and 88 in the first and second rounds, respectively.
